What good is eating healthy if it isn’t delicious? Here are some foods that the Fat-Free Mommy Family loves and that love us back! Try them out and don’t forget to tell me what you think!


Cauliflower– The way I feel about cauliflower is how Bubba in Forrest Gump felt about shrimp! Not only can you steam it, roast it, bake it, eat it raw… You see where I’m going with this, right? But it is also one of THE perfect low-carb alternatives to anything bread or potato! Want to substitute for mashed potatoes? Just bake or steam the cauliflower until its tender and then stick it in a food processor! Voila, mashed cauliflower! Like rice as a side? Bake those cauliflower florets and either grate them or put them in a food processor on low, and in minutes, voila, rice! One of my absolute favorite things to do with cauliflower is to make tortillas or pizza crust!

plantainPlantains – Another lower-carb alternative to the typical starchy foods is my beloved plantain. I love to grill plantains, pan saute them, bake them, make them into chips, mash them, even make them into bread! There is so much you can do with a plantain! They are not bananas, and they don’t taste like bananas, their taste is closer to a potato than anything else, so you can imagine the possibilities! There are tons of recipes out there for the many things you can do with plantains, so what are you waiting for?
